Review by Eric Broestl:
Yann Tiersen descended upon The Wonder Ballroom recently in support of his new
album ‘Infinity.’ The stage sat empty while the spoken word piece of the track
‘Meteorites’ set the tone for the evening. The members of the band stepped on stage
and each lit a small orange bulb, a simple accent that did not distract from their well
curated stage plot. The flow of the night was unencumbered and well executed. The
dynamic shifts from the intimate arrangements of the mellow tunes to the electrifying
drive of the guitar driven tracks made for an intensely introspective experience while
being part of the extremely receptive and grateful crowd. Yann Tiersen and his group
performed with no hesitation, the openness expressing with certainty that there was
nothing they intended to hide. The manner in which the emotional depth of Yann
Tiersen’s delicate and intense music was retained is an astounding feat that should be
experienced if you find yourself having the opportunity to catch his show while he is still
on the road.

DJ Koolaid killed it at the Futro stage at Duality. It’s been years since we hosted them at Connect.03 and it was true magic to see how far they’ve come.

KLAKAMAS: A NIGHT OF ELECTRONIC ECCENTRICITY BROUGHT TO YOU BY RAP CLASS AND GHOST DUB.
RAP CLASS ||| DROPPING GEMS |||
Rap Class is an eclectic DJ and producer who has been operating out of the PNW for the better part of the last decade. His styles are routed in a heavy sample based audio collage and disco mix champion influence. He can deliver anything; changing the ins and outs of his routine is his specialty.
PHILIP GRASS (dropping gems)-
Philip Grass is the electronic project helmed by Burton Schaber and Ben Durfee. The two met in 2011 while studying at University of Massachusetts, and began to slowly and increasingly orbit developments in electronic music together, attending shows on a regular basis, until they began to collaborate on their own material in early 2012. Their sound is characterized by an uncompromising instinct for change, as shuffling drums and moody pitch-shifted vocals can give way to riotous synth chords, jazz samples, or any number of other possible vibes.
